West Prevails

This past weekend the West prevailed over the East in the Annual Hieronymus Cup Matches held the Club at Porto Cima. This was my first time to compete in the event and it was a blast! Kirk Farmer and I held off Bobby Godwin and Matt Hines Saturday morning in our Four Ball Match. In the afternoon I teamed up with Wayne Fredrick and we defeated the team of Skip Berkmeyer and Jim Holtgrieve. It was great to play with Holtgrieve who has played in Walker Cup Matches, The Masters and won the USGA Mid Amateur Championship. I learned a lot by watching how he went about his business on each shot. Sunday I lost to Darren Lundgren in my singles match, I had him down early in the match and then gave him two gifts on holes 8 and 9 and could not get the momentum back on my side. Next year the Matches will be held at the wonderful Dalhousie Golf Club.

Here We Go!!

It is that time of year where the East meets the West for the Annual Cup Matches. This year the matches are being held at The Club at Porto Cima Saturday and Sunday. Four Ball and Foursome matches will held Saturday with Singles matches on Sunday. The East put a whipping to the West last year, so revenge is on the mind of Captain Bruce Hollowell and the West. JJ Vastyan is the Captain of the East team again trying to repeat his performance from last year. Here is a list of both teams. May the best team win, it should be fun.

Down the Stretch

This week begins the stretch run for us here at the Missouri Golf Association. Starting tomorrow we have the Senior Series Tour Championship being held at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club. This should be a great event to put an exclamation point on a fabulous first year of the Senior Series.

Then this weekend is the season Hieronymus Cup Matches being held at Porto Cima. Last year the East team spanked the West squad. The event is always a great time and should be another one this weekend on a fabulous golf course.
